Applying for Certification

The Teleport Certification Program will provide four levels of certification, from Tier 4 to Tier 1.  Each level will reflect a set of clear and objective standards for facilities, technology and operating procedures.  Certification at one of these levels will indicate, at a minimum, that the teleport complies with the standards of that level.

Teleports new to the program will have the option of requesting provisional or full certification.  In either case, the teleport operator will register at the WTA site and complete a detailed questionnaire.

Provisional Certification

For provisional certification, WTA will review the questionnaire and, if its standards are met, will issue a provisional certification at the appropriate level, clearly indicating that is based solely on self-evaluation.  The teleport will be listed as provisionally certified in WTA’s online registry of certified facilities.  Provisional certification will remain in effect for one year, after which the teleport must re-certify or agree to full certification through an onsite audit or be de-listed.. - Fee Schedule

Full Certification

Following review of the questionnaire, WTA will assign a provisional level of certification to the teleport and provide an auditor to conduct an onsite evaluation and confirm the data in the questionnaire.  The auditor’s report will recommend for or against certification at the indicated level or at a higher or lower level.  WTA will issue a full certification at the recommended level and include the teleport in its online registry.  Full certification will remain in effect for three years, after which the teleport must agree to re-certification through an onsite audit or be de-listed.

WTA will charge fees for provisional and full certification as well as reimbursement of auditor travel expenses. Discounted fees will be offered to operators seeking to certify multiple teleports. - Fee Schedule

Online Registry

WTA maintains an up-to-date online registry of certified teleports and provide teleport operators with links to their online statement of certification as well as a certification logo for display in marketing.
