  Joint Stock Company Gazprom Space Systems (before December, 1, 2008 – JSC Gascom) is one of the two Russian national satellite operators which holds 36% of the satellite capacity market in Russia. About a third of Yamal satellite capacity is concentrated in beams pointed over territories outside Russia.

GSS was established in 1992. Its shareholders are Gazprom - the biggest world gas company, Rocket-Space Corporation Energia the leading Russian space enterprise and Gaszprombank - the largest Russian non-state bank and Gazprom’s authorized bank.

The Company operates Yamal Satellite Communication System, providing the users with:
• satellite capacity worldwide;
• satellite services in Russia (“point-to-point” links, TV distribution, VSAT networks, broadband, mobile backhaul, trunking etc.).

The first own satellite of Gazprom Space Systems Yamal-100 was launched in 1999.

Today Yamal Satellite Communications System consists of four Satellites (Yamal-202, Yamal-300K, Yama-401, Yamal-402), state-of-the-art telecommunication center and VSAT networks in the regions of Russia. Total Yamal satellite constellation capacity amounts to 248 equivalent transponders of 36MHz.

The geography of GSS clients encompasses around 30 countries and services based on Yamal capacity are used in more than one hundred countries. Although on the international market GSS provides pure capacity, the company has a number of partner teleport companies in the Europe, Middle East, Far East, Asia, Africa and America.

In September 2014 on the World Satellite Business Week in Paris Gazprom Space Systems was recognized by the world telecommunication community as the best regional operator who had shown the most impressive growth in 2013 (Regional Satellite Operator of the Year).

The World Teleport Association ranked Gazprom Space Systems the 3rd place in the Fast Twenty Top Teleport Operators of 2014. And in 2009 according to the WTA official report Gazprom Space Systems was selected as the Corporate Teleport Operator of the Year based on a 48% revenue growth rate in 2008.
