Arqiva - the new company name that brings together NTL Broadcast and Inmedia Communications - provides permanent and occasional broadcast services through its network of 4 teleports with over 70 major uplinks, together with studios, post-production, and playout facilities. Its SNG vehicles feature multipath capacity and highly redundant state-of-the-art equipment. Arqiva offers satellite space segments on Eurobird 28.5 E and Astra 28.2 E satellites plus direct fiber links to Milan (Italy), Paris (France), Germany, and the United States.

Recent broadcast services highlights include:

  • Relaunch of 24-hour entertainment channel Rapture TV in a five-year contract with Arqiva for satellite uplink and space segment.
  • First-time live broadcast of a major rugby match for British Forces Broadcast Service (BFBS), using Arqiva’s Satellite Media Solutions division and Scanners OB unit. Arqiva delivered occasional video services with six cameras and effects facilities, plus satellite space segment and uplink services from its Chalfont site.
  • Studio, playout, transmission, and satellite distribution services for BFBS' 6 TV and 20 radio channels to its fixed bases including the Falkland Islands, Iraq, Bosnia, and Royal Navy vessels globally.
  • First contract with Australian broadcaster, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), using Arqiva’s occasional video services and satellite distribution for its coverage of the 2005 Ashes Test Series. SBS picked up the content from London’s BT Tower via its own fiber network.

Arqiva Satellite Media Solutions owns and operates four multi-antenna teleports in Bedford, Winchester and Chalfont (UK) for voice, data and internet services, plus various other terrestrial facilities for the carrier, enterprise and broadcast sectors, including three playout centres. It has more than 50+ Earth stations, in sight of more than 80 satellites, to reach more than 90 percent of the global populations. Also at Chalfont, Arqiva Satellite Media Solutions’ broadcast and studio facilities extend beyond value-added DTH uplinking to include fully-equipped digital TV studios with full pre- and post-production facilities, well appointed galleries, air conditioning, resin floor and fully saturated lighting grids. It offers tailored end-to-end participation TV services and is capable of digital playout for more than 100 channels through its Media Centres in Chalfont and London.
